A brief History of Appeasement

In late September 1938 Neville Chamberlain signed the Munich Agreement conceding the Sudetenland (an area in present day Czech Republic on its western border with Germany, Poland, and Austria) to Nazi Germany in an effort to end the aggressions of Germany. The appeasement failed and Briton declared war on Germany less than a year later. Numerous world leaders have used appeasement as a reference and justification of firm and sometimes armed actions since World War II. Most notably Margret Thatcher in 1982 where Alexander Haig urged her to reach an agreement with Argentina over the Falkland Islands she responded "that this was the table at which Nevile Chamberlain sat in 1938 and spoke of the Czechs as faraway people about whom we know so little". John F. Kennedy in 1962 when he "quarantined" Cuba during the missile crisis. British Prime Minister Anthony Eden in his handling of the Suez crisis in 1956. And George W. Bush in 2008 when he cautioned against "the false comfort of appeasement" when dealing with Iran and its President, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.

So, I ask, why now do we have a President of the United States of America hell bent on appeasement of Iran and its President, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, Hamas, Hezbollah, North Korea, Venezuela, Al-Qaeda, Cuba and any other two bit dictator on the planet? Have we so forgotten the past that we willingly will repeat the mistakes of our grandfathers? Why is this administration lock stepping into a most untenable situation with our closest ally in the middle east Israel?

Just a small sampling of some quotes by Ahmadinejad "The wave of the Islamic revolution will soon reach the entire world", "Our nation has no problem with other nations, but as far as the Zionist regime is concerned, we do not believe in an Israeli government or an Israeli nation.", "The UN structure is one sided, stacked against the world of Islam.", and "This regime occupying Jerusalem must vanish from the pages of time." Somebody please tell me where there is any room for talks with this individual? Diplomacy with Iran should be at the end of the barrel of a very large gun with our collective finger on the trigger.
